I have a chapter in this excellent book, along with a variety of international artists and designers, including Jonathan Harris, Carla Diana, and Aaron Koblin. The book includes step-by-step tutorials by each author.

FlashForward 2006 followup: Resource List

Submitted by blprnt on Sat, 2006-03-04 18:38.

I promised during Thursday's talk that I would provide a resource list for the things that I talked about. Here goes:

Here are the artists that I mentioned in the beginning of the talk:

This is my Canvas Class, which I demoed briefly.

Here is a thread in the processing forums which has a pile of links and resources about Neural Networks. It's an excellent place to start if you'd like to learn more.

This is an excellent mini-course on Genetic Algorithms, complete with Java Applets to demonstrate how it all works

I mentioned the book 'How Brains Think', by William Calvin, which is a very good read attempting to explain how conciousness might arise. Most interesting is his theory that there are thousands of micro-evolutionary processes happening in your brain at any given time.

Here is the first version of DarwInstruments. Source code is here.

Add a comment below if there's something I missed!

Is it possible you could post the code (or even just the swf) for those evil machines (the ones that made the flashbelt logos). Perhaps it will give me some insight into how I my thwart their plans for taking my job. The rockets code or swf would be cool too. Thanks for the Darwin in Design session. It made flashbelt worth going to :)
